Unfair
There was an incident that I wanted to put up on blog. It's actually about a friend ... but , I have a feeling that the article might lead him into more trouble ... so, shall lay off for a few days ...
Anyways, thanx to bickering between companies and a lack of sound HR policies , my friend is finding himself jobless .... he has the offer letter from both the companies , but cant join either !
Itz too bad when an MNC doesnt go thru its legal policies and all before hiring people.
I have no idea what my friend is gonna do .. he is totally distraught .... obviously !!!

Anyways to the contrary...1 of my friend's was an employee of 2 organizations simultaneously earning abt a lakh every month(take-home)[both huge and well-known..infact u will be surprised if u hear the names of the companies]
anyways I am sure ur friend will soon get a settlement...

You're right lol some companies have weird policies that should be changed. You must be knowing that for campus placements, which cos conduct at the end of the 6th sem or so, they generally ask folks to be all clear with 60 % plus aggregate. However, there may be a chance that a consistent good performer may have had a bad 5th sem and flunked. However , that doesn't come into picture. You just have to be all -clear at the end of the 5th sem , that's it. Your getting backlogs earlier doesn't matter!! Don't you think this is incorrect? It should be changed!! A similar problem is being faced by your friend!! Hope he sorts it out soon!!

Thats bad that he got job offer but cannot join anywhere.. its a catch 22 situation.. and really worse position to be in.... one wants to get out of a situation but cannot go..
But i feel currently it jobs are really hot.. so i do not think its going to be late that he cannot something better!!!... Like one my labmate at iisc... got job in xx for 2.25L then she got in xxxxxx for 3.5L before joining xx itself. Then she said to xx if you increase then only i will join.. then they increased the pay to 3L .. its a bargian world and people are inneed!!
If he can get jobs in 2 companies, he will definitely get a job in a 3rd one....don't worry!!!And have a great Holi!!

I have no words to say. Many times I wonder if working in a MNC & expecting to lead a normal life is as impossible as fish expecting to survive out of water.
Its very easy to sue the companies in the US. Maybe your friend can sue the companies.
However legal system is not so good here :(

oh no, the lady was a project assistant ... basically working for a project!!.. not a student!.. And the work at IISc depends on which prof you go!.. not all are good.. and some work is real junk.. like soldering!! and some places it too good!!.. Anyway hope your freind gets the job!!
heard that HR's are the most corrupt people in India nowadays, second only to politicians..or rather in par with them..t seems that many HRs do underhand business and give a lot of back door entry to under qualified people..
If he has offer letters on paper from those companies (even on e-mail sometimes will do), he can sue either of them (or atleast threaten them with it to get a settlement).

does he has any financial bond with the comp, if so he can take this to the new company, if the new company really very much of need him then they will take it up, if there is no bond also he can discuss the issue with the new comp HR and if they don't want any Docs then he can come out of the old comp. easily

I read this a couple of days back and was too annoyed to leave a comment. How can people play with an employees life like this? As you said, this is very unfair and unethical. I remember a job interview I went to last year. The interviewer did not even know how to ask questions. I made sure the HR knew about this and she apologised for the waste of my time and auto money. It's high time applicant interests are protected.

My friend in Nebraska has asked me to help her with her laptop (i live in AZ ,she used to live here too). She downloaded a bunch of viruses disguised as a virus danger warning from the main OS (ironic huh?) all I know to do is to take it to a computer store like best buy or get a free anti virus software. Any ideas on things that could help? by the way the thing that did it i think was called the antyvirus software fyi.
