The Price Of innocence

What is the price of innocence ?

I remember my favourite lines from "My name is Khan" .... "The death of an innocent has to be paid for by the entire humanity" (roughly translated). So, I tried to read what I could find in the Quran. What I found says "The death of one innocent is equal to the death of humanity" and "killing a person unjustly is the same as killing all of humanity, and saving a person is the same as saving all humanity" .... so why all this fight in the name of religion ?

When did religion decree killing for religion's sake ? Certain things I read in the translation of verses from the Quran shocked me. I don't know if such verses are for real, but if it is true, it is mighty sad. The same goes for certain verses' translations from the Bible too.

The other day I heard how most Christians in Canada are against the church only because of the church's way of controlling their lives. I have a friend who suffered a lot because she accepted her church's unwritten rule of not practising birth control.

Religion is supposed to enhance lives, bring in a strong foundation for faith and belief , and is something we should seek solace in. So, why harm for religion's sake ????

P.S : I started this post thinking of SRK in 'My name is Khan' .... remembered the dialogue from the movie .... and well one thing lead to another , and finally this post appears !!!!

I guess it is when people's ego starts taking control that everything gets topsy turvy. If there is one thing that can wreak the greatest havoc it is the feeling 'i am right and you are not'

It is not the religion; but the people who interpret it who creates the problems.

Religion should adapt and evolve. When that does not happen, practicing it becomes difficult...

You're spot on about the gender!

Regrettably, I gave in to temptation today...the need to reconcile was much too strong and I am much too weak!
Having done so, I am now all the wiser (though completely shattered). You see,I learned I am not only completely forgotten but all possible reminders of me have been done away with.

The saddest part is, I gave unconditionally with no expectation only hope. I was not welcome.

Lady, gather your courage ..... you are probably better off without this character in your life (i know it is hard to accept this statement), but take heart .... There is a reason why God does things .. if there is a distance, it is going to be God's way of showing you something.

Now, promise yourself you are not going to make an effort to call for 2 weeks .... Make it a promise to God, and stick by it

U see .. u r not forgotten, but the person is trying hard to forget you for whatever reasons the person has .... So, dont humiliate yourself .. for 2 weeks atleast, stay away .... and make sure you are around people who love you a great deal

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement Deepa.
I thank God for sending you into my life. Yes, I believe He has a plan for me so I'm not going to go loco about this whole issue.
Rest assured, I won't be calling ever again. Today, shattering experience as it was, was an eye-opener!
Fact is, he is not the villain of the piece. I hoped for more than he was willing to give and he was brutally honest about that fact. So really, I have no one but myself to blame!
Hope you are doing better.
Take care.

Stop blaming yourself girl. Even if you expected too much, you kept giving a lot too ... so dont even blame yourself.

He was honest about it... but did that make it better for you ?

Whatever it be, stop blaming yourself.

You are going to feel worse in a few days time ... but just stay put ok ? And trust in God completely ... It'll make you a lot more confident ....

And this is what I meant by God's role in our lives ... He always makes sure there is some1 to help us through the bad times.

When I was going through a bad time, I had a friend who made me see a lot of things .. when she was going thru a bad time, she had some1 ... and I hope I can help you someway .. someday, u'll help some1 the same way .. and the exp u r going thru now will def help u ... so keep the cheer !

I also think that is people who behave badly in the name of religion, all religions teach to love one another and not kill.but people continue to do so everyday. It does not matter if you are hindu, muslim or christian.

Hi Deepa,

Religion, just like any other thing in the world that could have provided us with succour and a sense of belonging without alienating others, has been twisted, distorted and left bereft of any meaning by us.

With regards to MNIK, were you able to sit through the entire movie?

I feel the modern age is the best time for humanity, (although we talk of all the good old days) - and the reason is this is the age of human rights; of reason; of justice; of governments by, for and of the people; in this age we can argue against religion - and we can see that religion can be misinterpreted and also yesterday's religion can be wrong for today.
