In the world of chivalrous men

A satire on all those chivalrous men , who have brought about more harm than good.

My relation with chivalrous men started from a young age , having grown up amidst lots of relatives, but the extent of this became apparent only during my teens.

  • My eldest cousin suddenly realised that the pretty girl across the street was more in his thoughts than the simple ohms law , during his exams. Having realised this , he took every possible opportunity to " protect " her .....

He found her having an argument with a guy one day , and saw the guy catching hold of her hand , and trying to drag her away from home ... Inspite of mywell meant advice , he ran upto his adversary and started a fight with him, only to have the gal slap and him and say " Thatz my husband , U jerk !!!!! "

  • 2 friends of mine and I were trying to cross the road ..... A bike rider , meaning to be chivalrous , stopped his vehicle so that we could cross the road .... Dumb fellow ... he didnt seem to notice that the traffic light for pedestrians was red ... His stopping the engine caused all the vehicles behind him to screech to a halt , resulting in absolute chaos.
  • I had baked my best cake ever .... And my youngest cousin , realising that it was time to feed the home cat , and that i was busy , offered to help me .... Next minute , I found my freshly baked cake , which I had left on the table for cooling , was in the feline's dinner dish.

Guys , here are a few points .... Please read and co-operate ....

  • We do NOT need , i repeat , NOT need you to hold our hands while crossing the road
  • Lizards , cockroaches etc, tho really horrid , do not drive us to the asylums
  • And we DONT need guys to supervise us ... We are perfectly safe the way we are ,Thank you
  • And our girls friends are also perfectly fine , Thank you
  • We donot relish having ur friends dropping home anytime they feel like to check on our welfare.

i believe that chivalry is a waste of time. why bother? everyone is capable of handling stuff on their own. if not, he/she who needs it will call for help. on the occurence of such an event, helping is a matter of discretion, not chivalry.

I havent felt the least need to be chivalrous when in KSRTC busses when I have to fight with women in crowded KSRTC buses..They have *reserved* seats and yet........... all is fair and no chivalry then

Well said gal! That account of your cousin coming to the rescue of someone's 'wife' was rofl. I can imagine the husbands consternation. hee hee hee :))

But I do appreciate chivalry.

When my husband opens the doors (he forgets many times) for me, I like it and I am really terrified of rats. But yes, otherwise I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself. I guess there was a time when my feelings were more like you.

arre wah !!
if some girl needs help n we dont extend it, wot wud u girls call us?
coward/timid/weak/arrogant ?

how shud we guys know wots exactly going on ?

n yes, some ppl do like to do extravagent display of chivalry. There r so many diff kinds of ppl in the world, u cant do away wth that.
The way u find some girls falling for ppl who help them in labs, complete their assignments, help solve their queries, escort them 'safe' to their home, do coding/debuggin 4 their part of work, and give a patient ear to their bla bla all the the time.

your 'points to remember' are fun n true too :)

Yes I remember getting "J" whenever my then gf used to tell me about some calling her up, whom she met online. By the time I realised that she doesn't need my "protection" frm other guys..it was too late.

But good that you mentioned them clearly out here :D

Will not screw up next time.
Greetz!!

hahaha.. the wife thing was funny..

well apart from that.. its both wasys we guys get to hear.. either the u do it all the time.. I don't need it or hey whtcha looking come and do it.. kinda..

well I guess there are few here who unneccessarily intervene to show off tht well they can take care of things even if its not needed .. but there are also a few who innocently just intended to help but were put off.. :)

@kickasso: There are no such thing as 'mens' seat. These are general seats. Anyone can occupy them.

Though we commonly understand chivalry as the man to woman thingie. It is actually a more capable/strong individual looking out for a less capable/strong one. It is pefectly possible for a guy to be chivalrous towards another guy.

Maybe, just a little, quiet, faraway maybe, u need to really look at what is it that makes all these men think that women are ... ahem how do I put it delicately .... weaker. :)

Get stronger and show you are stronger and out of the window goes all offers if chivalry
